Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) - President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Hamdi Tabbaa met Tuesday with Georgian Ambassador Archil Dzuliashvili to discuss establishing a Jordanian-Georgian business council in cooperation with the Business Association of Georgia in early November.

According to a JBA statement, Tabbaa called for increasing cooperation among the Jordanian and Georgian business communities.

Tabbaa noted the projected council would serve as a platform for exchanging information and expertise, as well as boosting bilateral investment and trade, particularly in priority sectors, mainly tourism, food industries, and agricultural products.

Tabbaa emphasized the JBA’s keenness to build "strategic" partnerships with other nations and support the private sector’s drive toward new and promising markets, highlighting Georgia’s strategic location and diverse investment opportunities.

Tabbaa pointed to the need to expand air connectivity between the two countries to facilitate business travel and encourage investment flows.

For his part, the Georgian ambassador welcomed the proposal, affirming his country’s interest in strengthening economic ties with Jordan.

The diplomat also stressed the importance of cooperation in education area, announcing around 2,000 Jordanian students are currently enrolled in Georgia, reflecting the "strong" cultural and academic ties between the two peoples.

Dzuliashvili underlined the significance of holding joint economic events, exchanging delegations, and creating a suitable investment climate to support mutually beneficial projects.

Based on official data, trade exchange between Jordan and Georgia reached about USD3.1 million in 2023, compared with USD8.3 million in 2022.
