Amman, Nov. 4 (Petra) -- Jordanian companies are stepping up their global competitiveness. Sixteen firms have earned the prestigious Jordan Quality Mark, and eight have secured internationally recognized Halal certification, signaling a major push to strengthen trust in the national products.
Abeer Zuhair, Director-General of the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), said the certifications help local products stand out in both regional and international markets while supporting the country’s Economic Modernization Vision.
"Recognizing companies that meet high standards not only rewards excellence, it also drives confidence in Jordanian products worldwide," Zuhair stated during Monday’s ceremony attended by company representatives. She also praised the cooperation between public and private sectors in fostering quality and economic growth.
The certifications, she explained, open new market opportunities, facilitate smoother trade, and reinforce the national economy. Halal certification, in particular, is increasingly in demand globally due to the trust it inspires among consumers.
JSMO recently gained international recognition for its Halal certification, strengthening Jordan’s position as a reliable Halal producer. The organization is also preparing to launch an Eco Label to help environmentally friendly Jordanian products enter global markets.
Zuhair emphasized ongoing collaboration with local industries to identify certification needs and standards requirements that can unlock new markets, urging companies to engage continuously for mutual growth and competitiveness.
Company representatives praised JSMO’s audit teams for their professionalism and acknowledged the organization’s central role in supporting the national economy through standards development, inspection, testing, accreditation, and certification services.
