Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) – The "She Leads – From Challenges to Change" workshop series concluded Monday in Amman, marking the culmination of a joint initiative by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership, and the EDAMA Association for Energy, Water, and Environment. The program aimed to enhance women’s participation and leadership in the energy sector and promote gender inclusivity in sustainable development.
According to a ministry statement, the closing session, held under the patronage of the ministry’s secretary-general, brought together experts and representatives from both the public and private sectors to exchange experiences and share success stories demonstrating women’s capacity to drive change and innovation.
Lina Mubaideen, Director of the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Directorate, underlined the ministry’s commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and increasing their representation in decision-making positions. She stressed that empowering women aligns with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision and contributes to building a sustainable and inclusive energy sector.
German Deputy Ambassador to Jordan, Guido Kemmerling, highlighted the partnership between Jordan and Germany in supporting the energy transition and integrating women into the energy field, describing it as a cornerstone of progress in the sector.
Dina Caroline Krollk, Senior Communications Expert at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), said that gender mainstreaming is crucial to achieving balanced and equitable growth in both the public and private sectors. She expressed appreciation for Jordan’s tangible efforts to strengthen women’s roles in energy and economic development.
Irene Honna, Project Manager of the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership, underlined that women have demonstrated their ability to be influential decision-makers, adding that collaborative initiatives help expand women’s participation in shaping national policies and fostering sustainable societies.
Vice Chairman of EDAMA’s Board of Directors, Samer Judeh, noted that the "She Leads" initiative represents a pioneering model in women’s empowerment, emphasizing that transformative change is achieved through collective institutional efforts rather than individual initiatives.
Rasha Abu Marar, Head of the Ministry’s Women’s Empowerment Team, emphasized the team’s work in increasing women’s participation in leadership, research, entrepreneurship, and renewable energy through practical programs and initiatives that open new opportunities in the sector.
