UK Urges Faster Delivery of Gaza Aid, Calls for Rafah Crossing to Reopen

London, Oct. 22 (Petra) British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Wednesday called for increasing and expediting the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of reopening the Rafah crossing and facilitating the work of international organizations following the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, Cooper said the United Kingdom has allocated £74 million to support humanitarian efforts, including £20 million to improve water and sanitation services in the enclave.
She affirmed that Britain continues to work with its partners to advance the second phase of the peace initiative, underscoring the need to deliver humanitarian assistance and to strengthen efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
