Amman, October 19 (Petra) – Minister of Investment Tariq Abu-Ghazaleh met on Sunday with India's Ambassador, Manish Chauhan, to discuss enhancing economic and investment cooperation.

The meeting is part of the deep-rooted historical relations between Jordan and India and in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to strengthen international partnerships and diversify investment sources.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Investment, Abu-Ghazaleh discussed the steady growth in economic ties between Jordan and India across key sectors such as mining, chemical industries, energy, pharmaceuticals and information technology.

He noted the Ministry's commitment to building on the momentum by broadening the base of Indian investments in Jordan and exploring new opportunities that serve the mutual interests of both nations.

He expressed particular interest in increasing Indian investments in the manufacturing sector, given its role in adding value to natural resources, utilising local raw materials, and supporting domestic production chains contributing to long-term, sustainable economic development.

Abu-Ghazaleh reaffirmed Jordan's ongoing efforts to enhance its business environment through updated legislation, streamlined procedures and attractive incentives for investors.

He invited Indian companies seeking to establish high-quality projects in sectors with competitive advantages, particularly in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.

Chauhan, in turn, praised India's ties with Jordan and reiterated India's interest in elevating economic cooperation with the Kingdom. He highlighted the potential for growth in areas such as trade, energy, infrastructure and technology.

He noted that Indian investments in Jordan currently total approximately JOD1.46 billion, represented by 46 Indian companies operating primarily in the mining, energy and industrial sectors.

Both sides expressed a shared interest in expanding collaboration through new joint ventures that contribute to the development of both economies.

The meeting is part of the Ministry of Investment's broader efforts to strengthen cooperation with other economies and attract high-value investments that support Jordan's economic vision and promote strategic partnerships across the region. //Petra// AK
