Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) – The Amman Chamber of Industry on Wednesday launched a project to empower small and medium-sized industries through Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, in partnership with the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), the InJo4.0 Competence Center, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

President of the Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, said in a statement that while the industrial sector’s exports are witnessing significant growth, it still faces challenges that require enhancing competitiveness through reducing production and energy costs and improving performance and productivity in key areas such as planning, production systems, digital transformation, automation, e-marketing, and export development.

He explained that the project responds to these challenges and supports the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision, as well as the industrial policy launched by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply. It serves as a model for unifying national efforts and creating technical and financial support mechanisms to develop the readiness of Jordan’s industrial sector and encourage it to adopt 4IR solutions.

Jaghbir added that the chamber will implement the project in partnership with the InJo4.0 Competence Center, which ensures the sustainability of a previously EU-funded initiative, including InJo4.0. The project includes a comprehensive package of services and opportunities for technical and financial support for factories in digital transformation and 4IR technologies through capacity building and training, specialized technical consultations, development plans, technical support, and financial grants for implementation.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Dana Zoubi, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with industrial chambers to empower and enhance the competitiveness of the industrial sector.

She said the program supports national policies and strategies, focusing on priority sectors particularly engineering along with sectors that boost Jordanian exports, which grew by 8.5 percent from the beginning of the year until the end of July, reflecting the strength of the national industry and its growing global competitiveness.

Zoubi emphasized that the program represents a significant step in accelerating the shift toward smart manufacturing and keeping pace with global technological advancements through joint implementation by the Amman Chamber of Industry and JEDCO.

She noted that the initiative aims to help industrial companies develop and improve their products and increase added value through technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and robotics, as well as digitalizing traditional production processes and preparing factories for more efficient and flexible production systems.

She added that the ministry hopes this project will enhance Jordan’s global position in the field of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and improve its competitiveness in this vital area.

International indicators show Jordan’s tangible progress ranking 49th globally in the 2024 Government AI Readiness Index, up from 55th in 2023, and 65th in the 2025 Global Innovation Index, compared with 73rd the previous year.

Deputy Head of the "Innovative Private Sector Development Approaches for Employment Promotion" (I-PSD) project, Ziad Maaytah, said the GIZ-supported program will provide consulting services for 4IR solutions and technical support to help implement related projects.

Director of the InJo4.0 Competence Center, Omar Kamal, presented an overview of the center’s services, including training, consultation, and entrepreneurship incubation in cooperation with the chamber.

The launch event also featured success stories from industrial companies that have applied 4IR solutions and the announcement of an open call for applications to benefit from the 4IR consulting services program.
