Karak, Nov. 2 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday inaugurated the Prince Faisal Youth City project in Karak Governorate, coinciding with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to the governorate.

The project was completed within a year after the government accelerated implementation to include all phases concurrently, instead of the initially scheduled multi-year timeline. The facility aims to serve the residents of Karak and enhance the sports and youth movement in the region.

The accelerated completion follows His Majesty’s directives to expand and modernize sports infrastructure across the Kingdom. It aligns with Royal instructions to construct a new international football stadium and upgrade the facilities at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman, Jordan’s first and largest sports complex.

During the inauguration, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of ensuring the facility’s proper maintenance to sustain its role in supporting local youth and athletic development.

Hassan had previously inspected the project during His Majesty’s visit to Karak in November 2024, when only 35 percent of the first phase had been completed as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking His Majesty’s assumption of constitutional powers. The Prime Minister then directed that the remaining phases be executed simultaneously to deliver the fully completed project within the current year.

Spanning more than 250 dunams, Prince Faisal Youth City includes an Olympic-standard swimming pool, a children’s educational pool, spectator stands, a five-a-side football pitch, a multi-purpose acrylic court, administrative and sanitary facilities, landscaped areas, and public parking.

The complex also offers recreational amenities and family-friendly spaces designed to promote community engagement and active lifestyles.

Last month, the Prime Minister reviewed progress on the comprehensive modernization of sports facilities and infrastructure at Al Hussein Youth City, a project initiated under Royal directives. Most of the work has been completed to meet the needs of national sports federations and the public.
