Aqaba, Nov.2 (Petra) – Ramzi Arafat, CEO of Aqaba Airports Company (AAC) and Director of King Hussein International Airport (KHIA), on Sunday announced the resumption of charter flights from Poland directly to the KHIA in the port city of Aqaba.
According to an ACC statement, the first flight will depart next Tuesday, marking the start of the winter tourist season in Aqaba. Flights will continue weekly as part of an air bridge connecting Jordan with European tourist markets.
Arafat noted this achievement is due to joint efforts of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), in cooperation with the private sector, aimed at attracting Polish tourists to visit the Kingdom's southern Golden Triangle and the Dead Sea.
Arafat affirmed the airport's readiness to provide the "highest level of facilitations," in accordance with international standards implemented in the best airports, in coordination with all partners and service providers, mainly the security and protection unit, passport control, and all security and civil agencies.
In turn, Saleh Hilalat, General Manager of Jordan Experience Tours and organizer of the charter flights, indicated that the launch of this "important" tourist air route came with the JTB's support, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, the ASEZA, and the Polish travel operator Rainbow Tours.
Hilalat added that this route represents a "positive turning point," promising a "strong" winter tourist season this year.
Hilalat noted the company is working to market the Golden Triangle region by taking part in exhibitions and implementing marketing campaigns in cooperation with major global tourism agencies.
Jordan, he stated, is considered one of the "promising" tourist destinations in the Polish market, citing a "growing interest among Polish tourists in visiting the Kingdom." //Petra// AG
