Aqaba, Nov. 3 (Petra) – Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Shadi Al-Majali, met on Monday with the European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, for discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem and fostering sustainable economic growth.

According to an ASEZA statement, the meeting - attended by Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Thabet Al-Nabulsi and Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment Mohammad Abu Omar - also addressed prospects for increasing European investment in Aqaba and expanding development cooperation across southern Jordan.

In a related context, Ambassador Chatzisavas met with a group of local entrepreneurs benefiting from the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) with joint funding from the European Union and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

During the meeting, entrepreneurs shared their experiences and the challenges they face, highlighting the project’s impact and ASEZA’s support in advancing their ventures. They also commended the positive role of the Aqaba Entrepreneurship Network (AEN), established under the E4DE project and led by ASEZA.

The E4DE project is implemented by GIZ and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in partnership with ASEZA, with co-financing from the European Union and BMZ.
