Amman, Oct. 22 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport Nidal Qatamin instructed Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) staff to intensify field inspections to monitor services provided to citizens and operators and to address challenges directly to ensure swift and practical solutions that improve service quality across the Kingdom’s governorates.
Chairing the LTRC Board of Directors meeting Tuesday evening, Qatamin said field work should be an ongoing practice for the commission, stressing that decisions must be based on accurate assessments reflecting the needs of both citizens and operators. He underlined that the main objective is to enhance public service and ensure safe, organized, and efficient transportation. He urged workers in the sector to integrate into regulated companies to raise service standards, efficiency, and safety.
The minister also directed the activation of the commission’s Complaints Department to improve communication with citizens and the Accidents Department to coordinate with the Traffic Department, the Ministry of Public Works, and Public Security to develop effective measures reducing accidents and improving road safety.
During the meeting, the board discussed new instructions governing smart transport applications under the recently approved system. Qatamin said these regulations aim to organize the sector, ensure fair competition, and maintain high standards of safety and service quality while accounting for technological advancements and market needs.
He further called for an urgent review of the legislative and regulatory frameworks of the land transport sector to eliminate overlaps or gaps and ensure coordination among all relevant agencies.
Qatamin noted that the next phase will focus on institutional integration between the commission and other transport bodies to realize a unified national vision for developing transport services, improving operator efficiency, and enhancing infrastructure nationwide. He emphasized that citizens remain at the center of all efforts, as improving public transport is essential for economic and social development and improving quality of life.
