Amman, Oct. 23 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Ahmad Safadi, said Thursday that Jordan remains committed to the values of integrity and loyalty, and to supporting doctors in their mission to defend human dignity, values that have been brutally violated in Gaza, where the Israeli war machine has bombed hospitals and places of worship.
Safadi made the remarks while patronizing the 53rd Conference of the Jordanian Society of Surgeons and the 13th Conference of the Ministry of Health’s Surgical Specialization.
Safadi underscored that His Majesty King Abdullah II, in his address before the United Nations General Assembly, clearly articulated what many continue to evade, which is the need for the international community to stop clinging to the illusion that the Israeli government is a willing partner for peace. He said Israel’s actions undermine the very foundations of peace and deliberately bury the idea of a Palestinian state.
He added that His Majesty’s speech was not merely an observation of the current reality, but a direct call to the world to reject double standards and acknowledge the Palestinians’ legitimate right to a homeland, dignity, and statehood, a right that is not subject to expiration.
Safadi highlighted the universal humanitarian mission of doctors, stating that pain knows no nationality and healing is a right for every human being. He said that doctors represent the first line of defense for human health and the conscience of a living society.
He pointed out that despite the devastation in Gaza, the Jordanian field hospital continues to play a heroic role in treating the wounded tirelessly, carrying forward the message of the Hashemites, the Arab Army, and Jordan’s commitment to stand by the Palestinian people and others seeking refuge and medical support.
President of the Jordanian Society of Surgeons Mohammad Harout said that the conference reflects Jordan’s distinguished medical reputation in the region as a scientific platform that brings together Arab and international surgical experts to exchange knowledge and explore the latest advancements in surgery.
He underlined that the association aims to position Jordan at the heart of the global medical community by providing surgeons with opportunities to develop their skills, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services.
Harout noted that the conference features a rich scientific program, including specialized lectures, practical workshops, and educational surgical procedures that familiarize participants with modern technologies and training methods.
He added that the conference will also address legal aspects of the profession through a dedicated session on the Medical and Health Liability Law, with the participation of judges, experts, and doctors, to promote awareness and uphold professional standards.
He emphasized that the Jordanian Society of Surgeons is committed to empowering young surgeons and enhancing their participation in scientific activities locally and internationally, believing that the future of surgery in Jordan depends on investing in the potential of the new generation and supporting their pursuit of excellence.
