Jordan, UK Military Leaders Hold Talks on Cooperation

Amman, Nov. 4 (Petra) – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, received the United Kingdom's Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME), Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, and his delegation at the General Command Headquarters on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on regional and international developments of mutual interest and ways to enhance military cooperation to support readiness and strengthen the Jordan Armed Forces’ capabilities in training, armament, and coordination, which aligns with the strategic defense partnership between the two countries.
The delegation received briefings on key regional security challenges and strategies for addressing them, as well as discussions on defense coordination, training exchanges, and operational readiness.
The talks also highlighted the Jordan Armed Forces’ humanitarian efforts in Gaza and the West Bank, including aid and medical assistance.
Huneiti underscored the deep historical ties between Jordan and the United Kingdom and emphasized the importance of building on past achievements to meet regional security needs.
Ahlgren praised the Jordan Armed Forces’ role in regional stability and affirmed his country’s commitment to expanding military cooperation, expertise exchange, and joint programs in training, qualification, and planning.
The visit concluded with the signing of the visitors’ book, attended by senior Jordanian officers and the British Defense Attaché in Amman.
On the sidelines, the 2025 Jordanian-British Staff Talks and preparatory meetings reviewed the implementation of agreements and programs to strengthen bilateral military coordination and planning.
