Amman, October 29 (Petra) – Jordanian Labor Minister Dr. Khaled Bakkar and his Palestinian counterpart, Dr. Inas Attari, discussed ways to enhance the mutual exchange of expertise in the labor affairs fields.
The two ministers agreed on the necessity of activating the joint cooperation agreement signed in 2015, based on their shared desire to develop cooperation in various labor-related areas.
During their meeting at the ministry's headquarters in Amman, Bakkar emphasized the "deep-rooted brotherly" Jordanian-Palestinian relations, adding that the government, headed by Dr. Jaafar Hassan, is implementing Royal directives for support the Palestinian people and working to empower them to remain on their land.
Bakkar stated the ministry is "fully prepared" to cooperate with the Palestinian Ministry of Labor to exchange expertise in the areas of labor market inspection, occupational safety and health, women's empowerment, and integration of people with disabilities into the labor market.
The minister stressed the need to achieve full membership of the State of Palestine in the International Labour Organization (ILO), "rather than merely maintaining its current status as a non-member observer state," which was adopted at the last session of the ILO Conference held in Geneva.
In turn, Attari commended the efforts of the Jordanian Minister of Labour and his remarks during the ILO Conference.
Attari called for strengthening cooperation with Jordan and enabling the State of Palestine to benefit from the Kingdom's expertise in areas, inspection, occupational safety and health, vocational and technical training, the National Employment Platform, and public-private partnerships.
This cooperation, she noted, aims to provide job opportunities for Palestinian youth, particularly given the high unemployment rates and the current challenges facing the Palestinian labor market.
On its role, Attari expressed her appreciation for the Kingdom's "unwavering" support, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, to Palestine and its people, which strengthens their resilience in facing challenges.
