Amman, Dec. 21 (Petra) – Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the launch of a specialized training program on budget preparation and financial reporting for Jordan's political parties.
According to an IEC statement Sunday, the three-day activity is part of Jordan’s democratic reform support initiatives, held in cooperation with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and support from the European Union.
The program targets party financial officers and covers preparation of annual party budgets, including the legal and regulatory framework under the Political Parties Law, contribution systems, financial planning, estimated budgets, and resource allocation.
The sessions also address preparation of annual financial reports and statements, as well as procedures to keep financial transactions, document revenues and expenditures, and calculate party expenses.
The statement added that the activity aims to outline annual party budgets, integrate accounting software (QuickBooks) for transaction entries, and draft sample financial statements.
The program, which supports financial transparency standards, mainly accounting and oversight, is part of the good governance criteria embraced by the IEC Board of Commissioners.
