Amman, December 21 (Petra) -- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II chaired a meeting on Sunday of the preparatory committee concerned with the executive programme for the strategy on cleanliness and combating littering for 2026-2027.

According to a royal court statement, the meeting, held at the Ministry of Environment and attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, covered the themes and plans developed by the committee for the executive programme recently launched by the government.

The Crown Prince stressed the importance of the government’s efforts to reduce littering in public places, noting that dealing with economic and regional challenges should not detract from the focus on such a fundamental issue as cleanliness in public places.

His Royal Highness highlighted that concern for the cleanliness of public places stems from a religious and moral duty, and is a key factor in the performance of certain vital economic sectors such as tourism.

The Crown Prince also noted the need to coordinate with all relevant parties to raise community awareness, improve infrastructure, and adopt any ideas that contribute to the success of the programme, which requires collective efforts.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hassan said the government will begin implementing the key points of the cleanliness strategy in coordination with all relevant authorities, noting that this is an ongoing programme based on cleanliness campaigns, awareness programmes, and decisive measures to enforce the law against violators.

He also noted that the roles of each party have been clearly defined, adding that the campaigns will focus on schools, universities, and mosques, in addition to strengthening the tools for monitoring violators.

Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman gave a briefing on the executive programme, including its objectives, desired impact, timeframe-based outputs, and the roles of the entities responsible for implementation.
