Mafraq, Sep. 17 (Petra) – Al al-Bayt University’s Center for Modeling and Simulation for Risk Analysis organized the 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Response: Innovations and Strategies (AIDR 2025) on Wednesday, attracting global participation from scholars, universities, and the Royal Jordanian Geographic Center.

Hani Akhu Rasheeda, Vice President of the university, said the conference serves as a global platform for experts and decision-makers to discuss the role of AI in early warning systems, disaster prediction, crisis management, and emergency response.

He highlighted AI applications in urban planning, infrastructure protection, climate adaptation, environmental monitoring, humanitarian aid, smart logistics, and the ethical and policy considerations of AI use in disaster response.

Muayad Shawagfeh, Director of the Center and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, outlined the conference’s key themes, stressing AI’s potential in data analysis, risk prediction, and timely response. He described the event as a step toward advancing applied scientific research and fostering international scientific dialogue to build a knowledge- and technology-based future.

The first session featured research on food security and nutrition in Arab countries, machine learning for wastewater quality prediction, integrated water resource management using remote sensing, smart risk management, and AI applications in forecasting.

Practical papers also addressed drone use in disaster response, climate change adaptation for barley productivity in Jordan, smarter disaster management, and the application of multi-sensor remote sensing to analyze karst aquifer responses to groundwater recharge and pollution.
