Aqaba, Nov. 5 (Petra) – A workshop titled "Green Transformation in Private Sector Institutions: Why? And How?" concluded in Aqaba on Wednesday, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with support from the European Union, in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
Patronizing the closing ceremony, the ASEZA Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety Nedal Ouran stressed the Authority’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and leading the shift toward green and blue economies, describing the transition to sustainability as a necessity driven by environmental and global challenges.
He noted that the ASEZA, in cooperation with its partners, is preparing the Kingdom’s first national blue economy strategy, aligned with the Economic Modernization Vision, to promote sustainable resource use, economic growth, and quality employment.
The workshop addressed topics including the green transition, energy efficiency, the circular economy, and environmental and social governance (ESG), while highlighting financing opportunities for green projects under the Green Economy Financing Program. It aimed to raise awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises on adopting sustainable practices to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve competitiveness.
