Amman, Sep. 15 (Petra) – The Zarqa Free Zones Investors Commission (ZFZIC) on Monday met with a delegation from the commercial and economic departments of the United States Embassy in Amman, including commercial and economic advisers, to discuss strengthening trade.

Held at the Zarqa Free Zone Authority headquarters, the meeting reviewed the zone’s pivotal role in supporting the national economy and detailed the volume of trade between Jordan and the United States.

The commission underlined its commitment to cooperation with the US side to boost trade exchange and increase vehicle imports from the US market, stressing the zone’s role as a key hub for re-exporting vehicles to regional markets.

For its part, the US delegation highlighted its interest in expanding trade, particularly in the vehicle sector and goods traded within the free zone, citing the quality and suitability of US vehicles for Jordanian and regional markets, including Iraq, Syria, and Libya.

The US delegation said regular follow-ups will continue in the coming months to ensure the smooth flow of vehicle and heavy machinery imports and to remove any technical obstacles facing importers.

The meeting also discussed measures to provide faster, lower-cost shipping routes to support import and export activity through the free zone.
