TRC says global platform outage linked to Cloudflare technical failure

Amman, Nov. 18 (Petra) The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) said Tuesday that difficulties experienced by users accessing certain global digital platforms and services were caused by a technical failure at Cloudflare.
The TRC said in a statement that Cloudflare is one of the world’s largest providers of security and content-distribution services, relied upon by many websites and applications to process data traffic.
It added that local telecommunications and internet networks are operating normally, with no outages or service-quality degradation reported by domestic operators.
The TRC stressed that the widely discussed disruption is unrelated to Jordan’s telecommunications infrastructure and does not affect any of its components, as it stems from an external issue in services dependent on Cloudflare.
According to the Commission, local services including government websites, banking systems and telecommunications services continued to operate normally during the global disruption.
It added that the incident underscores the importance of enhancing local and regional cloud-hosting capabilities to reduce exposure to outages affecting global service providers.
The TRC assured users that the telecommunications sector remains highly stable and reliable, noting that the issue was an external Cloudflare failure and does not reflect any problem in local networks.
