Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra) -- Minister of Government Communications and official spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani highlighted Jordan’s commitment to advancing its media and communications landscape through innovation and strategic partnerships, during a meeting on Tuesday evening with Arab and international scholars participating in the 2025 International Conference on Digital Communication, hosted by Zarqa University.

Al-Momani, joined by the ministry’s Secretary-General Dr. Zaid Al-Nawaiseh, Jordan Press Association President Tareq Al-Momani, and Al-Mamlaka TV Director General Jaafar Al-Zoubi, said the government views the media sector as a cornerstone of national development and a driver of transparency and openness.

He noted that the Ministry of Government Communications is pursuing an integrated strategy to modernize the national media narrative, strengthen digital outreach, and align communication tools with global transformations in the digital sphere. "Building a generation equipped with advanced digital skills requires close cooperation between universities and media institutions," he added.

The minister praised the conference’s high academic and organizational standards, as well as the participation of prominent Arab and international figures in media and communications research. He said such gatherings enhance Jordan’s position as a regional hub for media dialogue and thought leadership.

For his part, Zarqa University President Dr. Nidal Al-Rumahi said hosting the International Conference on Digital Communication 2025 reflects the university’s commitment to promoting research, academic exchange, and cross-border collaboration in media and communication studies.

He added that the event aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise between local and international scholars, consolidating Jordan’s reputation as a center for academic and media excellence. Al-Rumahi noted that the university places particular emphasis on applied training in its Faculty of Media to equip students with the digital competencies required by the modern job market.

Participants commended Jordan’s efforts to foster Arab media cooperation and praised Zarqa University’s role in bridging the academic and professional aspects of journalism and communication.

At the close of the meeting, Al-Rumahi presented Dr. Al-Momani with an honorary shield on behalf of Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaera, Chairman of the Zarqa Education and Investment Company, in recognition of his patronage of the conference.
