Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra) – Minister of Youth Raed Adwan met Wednesday with young climate leaders selected to join Jordan’s delegation to the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21.

Adwan underscored the ministry’s commitment to empowering youth engagement in addressing climate change through innovative solutions and sustainable initiatives. He noted that the ministry’s environmental programs in youth centers, business incubators, and entrepreneurship platforms foster youth-led action in climate-related fields.

He commended the ministry’s partnership with UNICEF, Generations For Peace, and Bank al Etihad in implementing the climate action sustainability program, which seeks to raise environmental awareness and enhance youth participation in shaping environmental policies.

The minister encouraged the delegation to maximize their participation by exchanging expertise, presenting Jordan’s environmental efforts, and expanding their skills to advance climate action in the Kingdom.

UNICEF Jordan Representative Shairose Mawji highlighted UNICEF’s ongoing efforts to empower Jordanian youth as climate leaders, noting that partnerships with the Ministry of Youth, the Ministry of Environment, and Bank al Etihad have enabled youth participation in UN climate conferences for three consecutive years.

The selection process followed the "Safe Climate Action 4" program, through which 51 applicants were shortlisted from 100 participants, with 41 meeting the eligibility criteria. Following assessments of leadership, communication, and climate knowledge, four candidates two male and two female were chosen to represent Jordan at COP30.
