Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra) – The Ministry of Agriculture announced Thursday that it will begin accepting applications for olive oil imports starting Sunday morning, November 9, 2025, through the end of the workday on Thursday, November 13.
The ministry said the decision aims to ensure sufficient quantities of olive oil are available in local markets at appropriate quality and price levels, given the decline in domestic production this season. It noted that imports will be restricted to member countries of the International Olive Council to guarantee product quality and adherence to international standards.
Companies and institutions wishing to import olive oil must submit their applications with the required documents, including a commercial registration certificate specifying the purpose of import, export, and trade in foodstuffs; a valid importer’s card; and social security statements for 2024 and 2025.
The ministry explained that this step supports market stability by balancing supply and demand, maintaining fair prices, and protecting consumers from unjustified price increases resulting from lower production.
It underlined its ongoing monitoring of the olive harvest and production levels, alongside its continued support for farmers through marketing and awareness programs. A specialized team will review all submitted applications to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
The ministry stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors to sustain the olive sector, describing it as a cornerstone of food security and a key contributor to Jordan’s agricultural economy.
