Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra) -- The Jordanian-Russian Friendship Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Sharhabil Madi, met on Thursday with Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Madi highlighted the strength of Jordanian-Russian relations based on mutual respect and continuous development across various fields, emphasizing both sides’ commitment to expanding economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation.

He expressed the committee’s interest in furthering collaboration, particularly in tourism, given Jordan’s rich religious, therapeutic, and archaeological sites, as well as Christian pilgrimage destinations. He commended the mutual visa exemption agreement, noting that it will help increase Russian tourist arrivals and stimulate tourism and economic activity in both countries.

Desyatnikov reaffirmed the depth of Jordanian-Russian relations, especially in political, economic, cultural, and tourism fields, praising the high level of cooperation achieved under the leadership of the two countries.

He pointed to Jordan’s diverse tourism assets and said the visa waiver will encourage more Russians to visit the Kingdom and explore its heritage and unique historical landmarks.

Committee members stressed the importance of utilizing available facilitation measures to boost mutual tourism and open new avenues of cooperation serving shared interests and strengthening strategic ties.

Both sides agreed to develop a joint action plan between Jordanian and Russian tourism authorities aimed at revitalizing cooperation and restoring the previous momentum of Russian tourism to the Kingdom.
