Hanoi, Nov. 13 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II met in Hanoi on Thursday with representatives of leading Vietnamese textile companies and representatives of Jordan’s textile sector.

The roundtable, held in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), aimed to explore investment opportunities and potential partnerships for joint industrial ventures in the textile sector between the private sectors of both countries.

His Majesty expressed Jordan’s commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations with Vietnam, noting the importance of Vietnam’s experience in attracting investments and developing local industries, particularly in the textile sector.

The King also highlighted Jordan’s investment advantages and opportunities that Vietnamese companies can benefit from, particularly within special industrial zones dedicated to the garment and textile sector, which would serve to expand Vietnam’s access to new markets.

For his part, IFC Division Director for the Middle East, Pakistan, and Afghanistan Khawaja Aftab noted the importance of manufacturing as a key driver of job creation, adding: "Today’s Vietnam–Jordan textile industry roundtable builds on our ongoing advisory support to strengthen the textile sector, expand job opportunities for Jordanians, attract new investments, and boost trade in line with the Kingdom’s Economic Modernisation Vision." Also speaking at the roundtable, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association Chairman Vu Duc Giang expressed readiness to visit Jordan to explore opportunities to diversify markets, products, and commercial brands, as well as to engage in joint investments in line with the strategic trade goals of Vietnam and Jordan.

According to official figures, Jordan’s textile exports reached approximately $2.4 billion in 2024, with the majority destined for the United States.

Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah, and Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Vietnam Saed Radaideh attended the roundtable.
