Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) -- The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) convened its third annual Cancer Research Conference, bringing together Jordanian researchers from the center and local universities, alongside international experts from the United States, France, and several Arab countries.
According to a statement released by the center on Monday, the conference featured 205 research papers that were peer-reviewed and evaluated by an international panel of medical specialists. The studies covered a wide range of oncology topics, including T-cell therapy, early detection, breast cancer, bone marrow transplantation, genomic applications, hereditary cancers, and tumors of the lung, eye, and brain, as well as pharmacology, surgery, palliative care, and nursing.
KHCC Director General Dr. Asem Mansour emphasized that cancer research is a cornerstone for improving patient care, as it enables the development of new treatments, enhances diagnostic accuracy, and enriches clinical trials. He added that such research contributes to scientific publishing in international journals, builds medical competencies, and guides health policies that benefit communities locally and regionally.
Mansour highlighted that scientific research serves as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, creating a real difference in patients’ lives and positioning the center as a regional and global leader in cancer research.
He noted that the conference provides a vital platform for exchanging expertise and strengthening research collaboration. It also offers young researchers an opportunity to present their work, encouraging them to pursue scientific publication and demonstrate their abilities through high-quality research that advances diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare standards.
Mansour further stated that all researcher databases at the center are national and derived from patient data, with patients’ consent to participate in research and clinical trials.
The conference’s international review committee commended the quality and innovation of this year’s research papers, noting their relevance to patient care and treatment development. The committee expressed confidence that such scientific efforts will continue to enhance KHCC’s reputation and leadership in cancer research regionally and globally.
