Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra) – Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat said Tuesday that the Cabinet’s approval of a revised price list for open application programming interface (API) services marks an important step in enabling startups and entrepreneurial companies to access government data at affordable rates.

According to a ministry statement, Smeirat said the ministry has developed integrated business models for delivering these services and will continue reviewing prices periodically to ensure they meet the needs of startups and the private sector.

He noted that the decision gives startups the opportunity to access government data at reduced costs, enhancing their ability to expand and develop innovative solutions.

Granting exceptions such as discounts, extended trial periods, or adjustments to certain conditions reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships and empowering entrepreneurs to effectively use data, he added.

Smeirat said the step is in line with the National Council for Future Technology and part of the broader economic modernization drive aimed at consolidating Jordan’s position as a regional hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
