Amman, Oct. 7 (Petra) – As the second year of the aggression on the Gaza Strip begins, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) continues its humanitarian and relief operations, carrying Jordan’s message of solidarity and support to the Palestinian people.
In a statement on Tuesday, the JHCO underlined that Jordan acted immediately after the outbreak of the aggression on Gaza, providing diplomatic and humanitarian support and establishing the Jordanian Relief Corridor as the primary channel for aid into Gaza. This effort involved full coordination among state institutions, including the Jordan Armed Forces, the Royal Jordanian Air Force, and the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs.
Over the past two years, the JHCO dispatched 201 land convoys, totaling 8,664 trucks of food, medical supplies, and shelter materials, benefiting hundreds of thousands of families. In parallel, 53 relief aircraft delivered more than 530 tons of essential supplies via El Arish Airport, and 564 direct airdrops, conducted with 102 helicopters in cooperation with national and international partners, ensured aid reached hard-to-access areas.
The JHCO has also launched a series of humanitarian projects in partnership with local and international organizations, including the Jordanian Campaign and the Al Monasara Islamic Zakat Committee for Palestinian People.
Initiatives include the "Water Supply" project, providing over 21,000 liters of potable water, and the Hot Meals Project, distributing approximately 1.5 million meals. In healthcare, the "Restoring Hope" initiative has fitted 637 prosthetic limbs for the injured, while flour and bakery projects, as well as the Eid al-Adha program, supported thousands of families. Displaced families have received tents and shelter supplies.
Over the past two years, the JHCO signed 177 agreements to deliver humanitarian assistance in coordination with local and international partners, bringing a total of more than 123,396 tons of aid into Gaza.
Secretary-General Hussein Shibli affirmed Jordan’s continued commitment to its humanitarian role, stating, "Jordan has been and continues to be the humanitarian safety valve for our people in Gaza.
Over the past two years, we have worked as part of an integrated national effort under Hashemite leadership to link Jordan’s charitable will with the needs of the Palestinian people in the most difficult circumstances." He added that the JHCO, as the official body authorized to collect donations and implement relief operations, will continue coordinating with international and United Nations partners to ensure aid sustainability and respond to growing humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip.
