Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) – Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman on Sunday emphasized the importance of the collaborative role played by environmental associations in supporting national efforts to protect the environment and achieve sustainable development.

The meeting, held with heads and representatives of environmental NGOs in the Central Region, comes as part of a series of consultations the minister is conducting across the Kingdom. Similar meetings will soon be held in the northern and southern regions to enhance communication channels, exchange expertise, and discuss shared environmental challenges while developing joint action mechanisms between the ministry and the associations.

Suleiman commended the vital contributions of environmental associations through their field initiatives and projects aimed at promoting environmental protection and awareness. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to building effective partnerships with civil society institutions in all governorates to advance both institutional and on-the-ground environmental action.

He underlined that protecting the environment and its natural resources is a shared national responsibility that requires collective efforts, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to continuing these consultative meetings to strengthen partnerships and achieve national environmental goals while ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for future generations.

The meeting also reviewed key environmental challenges facing the Central Region and discussed ways to enhance cooperation through experience exchange and field projects in areas such as tree planting, waste management, public site cleanups, and environmental awareness campaigns.

Participants also presented several proposals emphasizing the need to involve associations in shaping environmental policies and expanding their role in implementing sustainable development projects at the local level.
