- Crown Prince: The forum demonstrates the strength of partnership between Jordan and UK, as well as a deep belief in the ability of technology to reshape economies, open up new avenues for cooperation London, Oct. 13 (Petra) His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended on Monday the launch of the Jordan-UK Tech Connect Forum in London.

The Crown Prince said the forum demonstrates the strength of partnership between Jordan and the United Kingdom, noting that the two countries share mutual goals in this field as well as a deep belief in the ability of technology to reshape economies and open up new avenues for cooperation.

His Royal Highness said Jordan’s efforts to invest in its youth, expand the digital economy, and create an environment conducive to innovation are reflected in the growing cooperation with the UK.

The forum brings together representatives from Jordanian technology companies, and leaders and founders of the UK’s leading companies in various technological fields.

The Crown Prince highlighted the importance of transforming ideas into large-scale projects that would have a positive impact on both countries.

In his remarks at the forum, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat spoke about Jordanian expertise in the fields of communications, entrepreneurship and engineering, particularly among young people, and about the efforts of national institutions to support the ICT sector.

Smeirat highlighted the role of the Jordan Source programme, launched in 2021 by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship under the patronage of the Crown Prince, in helping international companies establish operations in Jordan and connect with Jordanian business owners, innovators and entrepreneurs, in addition to providing a supportive environment for innovation and business growth in Jordan.

The forum is part of a series of promotional tours in several countries by the Jordan Source programme aimed at highlighting Jordan’s competitive advantage in the ICT sector, and exploring opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

The forum was attended by some 120 representatives from leading British technology companies specialising in finance, education, consulting, artificial intelligence and advanced technology, and creative industries, as well as Jordanian entrepreneurs residing in the UK.

On the sidelines of the forum, two initiatives were launched to facilitate access to British investors, enhance cooperation between Jordanian and British companies, and support the efforts of Jordanian start-ups to enter the British market.

The Crown Prince also met with Jordanian representatives of major companies specialising in technology, communications, cyber security, and the financial and banking sector in the UK, with His Royal Highness calling for exploring opportunities for cooperation with Jordanian technology institutions.

Jordan’s Ambassador to the UK Manar Dabbas, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain attended the forum.
