Arab nations condemn Israeli strike in Qatar

Amman, September 9 (Petra) – Arab countries strongly condemned on Tuesday Israel's attack against the State of Qatar as a blatant violation of international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

Palestinian Authority Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as a "brutal act" and a "clear violation of international law" that threatens regional security and stability.

In a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Abbas stressed the urgent need to halt the escalation, warning of its potential repercussions on both regional and global peace.

He reiterated that the path to stability begins with a just and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue.

Arab League Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit denounced the attack, particularly the targeting of residential areas in Doha. His spokesperson, Jamal Rushdi, said in a statement that Israel's actions are "outside the bounds of international norms and law," calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable for what he described as a "shameful violation." Rushdi affirmed the Arab League's full solidarity with Qatar and its support for any measures taken by Doha to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.

Iraq The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the attack as a "flagrant violation of Qatari sovereignty" and a threat to its national security.

Iraq expressed its solidarity with Qatar and urged the international community to take responsibility and act to stop Israeli aggression.

Lebanon Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the assault as part of a wider pattern of Israeli violations across the region. He said the attack on Qatar reflects Israel's disregard for regional peace efforts and the lives of civilians.

Lebanon expressed its solidarity with Qatar and called on the international community to intervene to stop Israeli violations and support Qatar's peacemaking efforts.

Saudi Arabia The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly condemned what it described as a "brutal and blatant" Israeli attack on Qatari sovereignty.

In a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Riyadh reaffirmed its full support for Qatar and pledged to back all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty.

The Kingdom urged the international community to take a decisive stance against Israeli actions that undermine regional stability.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed denounced the attack as "blatant and cowardly," warning that such reckless behavior poses a serious threat to regional and international peace.

In remarks reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), he stressed the UAE's full solidarity with Qatar and called for an immediate cessation of the military escalation.

He urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and deter further aggression.

Kuwait The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli attack, labeling it a "flagrant violation" of international law and a direct threat to regional peace and security.

The statement reaffirmed Kuwait's support for Qatar and called on the Security Council to take concrete steps to stop repeated Israeli violations.

Bahrain Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack on Qatar, describing it as a violation of the Gulf state's national sovereignty and international law.

In a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the ministry voiced full support for Qatar's right to defend its people and called for de-escalation to preserve regional peace.

Algeria Algeria condemned the Israeli aggression on Doha, describing it as an extension of Israel's broader military campaign. The Algerian Foreign Ministry emphasised that the attack on Qatar demonstrates Israel's disregard for international norms and its unwillingness to pursue peace.

The ministry called on the global community to confront Israel's actions and prevent further instability in the region.

Oman Oman condemned the attack, referring to it as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international law and Qatari sovereignty.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Qatar and supported all steps taken by Doha in response.

It called on the international community to take immediate action to deter Israel and uphold regional peace and stability.

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) GCC Secretary-General Jassem Budaiwi issued a strong condemnation, labeling the attack as a "cowardly act" that violates all international treaties.

He affirmed the GCC's complete solidarity with Qatar and support for any response measures.

Budaiwi praised Qatar’s ongoing efforts to mediate peace and stabilise the region, calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions. //Petra// AK
