Amman Chamber of Industry Exports Rise 16.1% in First 11 Months

Amman, Dec. 3 (Petra) – Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry increased by 16.1 percent during the first 11 months of this year, reaching JD 983 million compared with the same period last year, reflecting broader diversification toward non-traditional markets in Africa, Europe, and non-Arab Asia.

All industrial sectors recorded export growth during the period except wood and furniture, which declined by 5.2 percent. The construction industry posted the highest expansion, rising by 68.5 percent.

According to the Amman Chamber of Industry’s statistical report, the value of exports based on certificates of origin issued from January through November reached JD 7.075 billion, compared with JD 6.092 billion during the same period in 2024.

Four countries, India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, accounted for more than half of the Chamber’s exports during the period, totaling JD 3.933 billion, up from JD 3.726 billion in the same period last year.

Exports to India rose by 23.3 percent to JD 1.105 billion, compared with JD 896 million last year. Exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 8.6 percent to approximately JD 781 million, while exports to Iraq grew by 3.3 percent to JD 913 million.

Exports to the United States declined by 7.7 percent to approximately JD 1.134 billion, compared with JD 1.228 billion in the same period last year. Despite the decline, the United States remained one of the top destinations for industrial exports.

The Chamber also reported a substantial rise in exports to Syria, which surged by 566.7 percent to JD 419 million, compared with JD 62 million for the same period last year.

By geographic distribution, Arab countries topped the list with JD 3.386 billion in exports, followed by non-Arab Asian countries at JD 1.570 billion, and North American countries at JD 1.181 billion. Exports to EU countries amounted to JD 468 million, to non-EU European countries JD 225 million, to African countries approximately JD 136 million, to South American countries JD 66 million, and to other countries JD 42 million.

Sector-specific data showed exports of mining industries reaching approximately JD 1.770 billion, chemicals and cosmetics at JD 1.268 billion, and engineering, electrical, and information technology industries at roughly JD 1.179 billion. Exports of food, beverages, agricultural, and livestock products totaled JD 896 million, while pharmaceutical and medical supplies reached JD 668 million, and leather and textiles JD 565 million. Additional exports included packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies at JD 254 million; plastics and rubber at JD 288 million; construction at approximately JD 168 million; and wood and furniture at JD 19 million.

Established in 1962, the Amman Chamber of Industry represents 8,600 industrial establishments employing 159,000 workers, with a total capital base of approximately JD 5 billion.
