Ajloun Lights Christmas Tree at Our Lady of the Mountain Church

Ajloun, Dec. 16 (Petra)- The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities lit the Christmas tree at Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Anjara, Ajloun Governorate, on Tuesday evening, in the presence of Deputy Governor Mohammad Husami.
Hisham Shakhatreh, Assistant Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry, who attended on behalf of the Minister of Tourism, said the occasion conveys hope, love, and unity, sending a message of peace worldwide and inviting visitors to Jordan, a land of hospitality and harmony.
He highlighted that Ajloun hosts two recognized Christian pilgrimage sites, including Our Lady of the Mountain Church, one of the kingdom’s prominent religious and tourist landmarks, reflecting the coexistence and harmony between Muslims and Christians in the governorate and the town of Anjara.
Father Youssef Francis noted that the tree lighting celebration symbolizes giving, love, peace, and tolerance, adding that Jordan represents a model of coexistence, emphasizing that unity is the key to success. He wished that 2026 would bring blessings and prosperity to Jordan, its Hashemite leadership, and its loyal people.
The ceremony, attended by MP Wasfi Haddad, former MP Farid Haddad, and directors of tourism and antiquities Firas Khattabeh and Nawal Shwashreh, included festive hymns for the occasion.
