Salt Heritage House Renovation Tender Launched to Revive Cultural Landmark

Salt, Oct. 8 (Petra) -- Greater Salt Municipality Mayor Ali Bataineh announced a tender to renovate the Salt Heritage House for reopening the landmark, part of a historic project to preserve the unique architecture and culture of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Salt House in the southern Al-Saru is a four-story building on a total area of 8,156 square meters featuring a distinctive architectural design.

The heritage site includes a basement level with a storage area and exits, a ground floor with a gym, a seven-entrance wedding hall, a kitchen, and a prayer room. The first floor houses administrative offices, a VIP hall, a restaurant, and a storage room, and the second floor includes additional kitchens and other services.

The project aims to achieve multiple developmental functions with a cultural purpose to preserve the architectural identity of Salt, home to 650 heritage buildings, an economic objective to create new investment and employment opportunities for the local community and a social dimension to revive the city’s cultural heritage.

It is part of a broader strategy by the Greater Salt Municipality to achieve sustainable development. It also launched the first specialized center for the maintenance and restoration of heritage structures in the "Falah Al-Hamad" building, which will serve as a training hub for restoration work and help build local professional capacities in this rare field.

The revitalization and investment of the Salt Heritage House is meant to be a key cultural and tourist attraction that strengthens Salt’s status as a world heritage city and drive economic and take cultural development in the governorate to higher levels.
