Jerash, Oct. 22 (Petra) The Ministry of Public Works and Housing teams commenced maintenance work Wednesday on a key road stretching from the Jerash Visitors Center traffic light to the Qirawan Roundabout and from the military institution to the governorate building, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion within the city.
Ekhlas Khashashneh, Director of the Public Works Directorate in Jerash, said the project’s contract is valued at JD 209,000, with an estimated completion time of 30 days. The maintenance will include milling the existing asphalt, repaving with a new basaltic mixture, constructing a central island, and equipping the road with traffic safety elements and signage.
She explained that the project will be executed in two phases: the first phase covers the stretch from the Visitors Center traffic light to Qirawan Roundabout, approximately 1,100 meters, while the second phase covers the road from the military institution to the governorate building, about 400 meters. Temporary traffic diversions will be coordinated if necessary to ensure public safety and smooth traffic during the work.
Khashashneh emphasized that maintaining this vital road is part of ongoing efforts to develop Jerash’s road network, enhance traffic safety, and improve the quality of services for residents and visitors, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure in line with the city’s development.
