Aqaba Emerges as Regional Hub for Investment, Women’s Empowerment

Aqaba, Nov. 4 (Petra) -- Aqaba is fast emerging as a regional benchmark for attracting high-value investments and fostering a dynamic business environment, reflecting both the strategic vision of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the royal directive to establish the city as a leading economic hub in the region, said Mohammad Abu Omar, ASEZA’s Commissioner of Economic Affairs and Investment.
He highlighted the authority’s commitment to supporting women-led initiatives and empowering women across the city’s economic and social sectors.
Abu Omar made these remarks during a meeting with Amal Al-Hadabi, Chairwoman of the Jordanian-Emirati Business Women Council, and accompanying council members, in the presence of Mohammad Al-Hasanat, ASEZA’s Director of Investment Promotion. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in economic, investment, and tourism sectors to expand partnership opportunities between ASEZA and businesswomen from Jordan and the UAE.
He praised the strong Jordanian-Emirati relations built on enduring foundations of friendship and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of leveraging these ties to strengthen economic and investment collaboration.
Abu Omar outlined Aqaba’s key competitive advantages, including investment incentives and facilitation measures, advanced infrastructure, free trade agreements, and its strategic location connecting three continents, making the city Jordan’s economic gateway and a major regional logistics and trade hub.
Al-Hasanat presented ASEZA’s 2024–2028 strategic plan, the comprehensive Aqaba 2040 master plan, and efforts to enhance the region’s investment appeal through sustainability and integration. He also highlighted successful Emirati investment projects that have become landmark achievements in Aqaba.
The delegation viewed a promotional film showcasing Aqaba’s natural and touristic attractions, including Wadi Rum, alongside the city’s promising investment and tourism opportunities with regional and global relevance.
Members of the Jordanian-Emirati Business Women Council expressed admiration for Aqaba’s remarkable development across multiple sectors and confirmed their intention to expand cooperation, activate partnerships with ASEZA in key sectors, and exchange expertise and successful experiences between businesswomen in both countries.
