Ma'an, Nov. 16 (Petra) – The Ministry of Public Works and Housing said the new outpatient clinic and blood bank building at Ma'an Government Hospital will be completed and operational by the end of March, noting that construction has reached 84 percent.
Ministry spokesperson Omar Maharmeh said the 5,154-square-meter project includes outpatient clinics, a blood bank, laboratories, radiology units, administrative offices, and support facilities. The expansion, funded by the Ma'an Governorate Council at a cost of JD3.75 million, aims to consolidate diagnostic and treatment services under one roof and improve the overall quality of care.
He said the two-floor building includes dedicated service rooms, a medical gas facility, and external works such as parking areas, courtyards, and fences. The facility will house general and specialized clinics, laboratories, and imaging units, and was designed in line with international healthcare standards.
Ma'an Hospital Director Walid Rawad said the expansion will increase patient capacity and reduce pressure on the existing building, which currently accommodates only six clinics despite receiving more than 600 patients daily. He noted the hospital’s strategic location, serving governorate residents, travelers to Aqaba, and passengers heading toward Saudi Arabia.
Rawad said the new facility, located within the hospital grounds, will include separate blood bank units, radiology rooms, laboratories, administrative sections, 30 clinics, multiple waiting areas, and rooms for ECG, echocardiography, dressing, plastering, and minor operations. He added that patient queuing will be fully automated.
The facility is expected to receive about 7,400 patients monthly. Rawad said the project aligns with the royal vision to enhance healthcare services across governorates, adding that electricity has been connected and equipment worth JD1.2 million is being delivered and stored pending final handover.
