Amman, Dec. 15 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Marwan Rifai, met Monday with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and Head of the UN Youth Office, Felipe Paullier, in the presence of UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Ritsema-Anderson.

Rifai highlighted the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through quality education, skills development aligned with labor market needs, economic opportunities, and participation in decision-making processes as part of ongoing economic, political, and administrative modernization efforts. He also underscored the private sector’s key role in providing employment opportunities for young Jordanians.

Paullier outlined the UN Youth Office’s initiatives to strengthen youth engagement in sustainable development. He noted that the UN Youth Strategy serves as the primary framework for international efforts to support youth participation in governance, education, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, and protection of their rights.

He emphasized that the UN Youth Office coordinates among agencies and builds partnerships to invest in youth capabilities, while promoting their role in climate action and environmental sustainability.
