Amman, Dec 14 (Petra) - The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) welcomed the Social Security Corporation’s call to launch a comprehensive national dialogue on the proposed amendments and scenarios to the Social Security Law, following the announcement of the results of the 11th actuarial study aimed at assessing the corporation’s financial position and ensuring its insurance sustainability over the long term.

In a GFJTU statement issued on Sunday, the federation said that opening a national discussion under the umbrella of the Economic and Social Council, with the participation of social partners and experts, constitutes a positive step toward enhancing transparency and consensus and achieving the best possible outcomes in this regard.

The statement stressed that GFJTU, in its capacity as a representative of workers within the council through the membership of labor unions, will participate actively in the dialogues to ensure the protection of the rights of insured workers and retirees and to present a trade union perspective that serves the public interest and provides social protection for workers.

The federation pointed to its support for principles announced by the corporation, namely maintaining the financial sustainability of social security, improving the conditions of retirees with low pension incomes, and refraining from infringing on the benefits and acquired rights of insured persons in accordance with the provisions of the law currently in force.
