Amman, Nov. 11 (Petra) -- Calm skies and gentle warmth will carry through midweek before unsettled weather brings scattered showers and rumbling thunder toward the weekend, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

On Tuesday, the weather will be moderate and partly cloudy, with medium and high clouds drifting across the sky. Southeasterly winds will blow at a moderate speed, turning northwesterly by midday.

Wednesday will bring a slight dip in temperatures, leaving the air mild over the highlands and pleasantly warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Varying cloud layers will appear throughout the day, with light easterly breezes.

By Thursday, the country will begin to feel the touch of unstable weather, as clouds thicken and brief rain showers develop in several areas, some possibly with thunder. Easterly to northwesterly winds will be moderate, occasionally raising dust, particularly across the desert regions.

Friday will remain under the same unsettled pattern, with patches of rain, occasional thunder, and gusty westerly winds stirring up dust in parts of the Badia.

Temperature readings for Tuesday show highs and lows of 27 and 13 degrees Celsius in East Amman, 25 and 11 in West Amman, 23 and 12 in the northern highlands, and 24 and 11 in the Sharah highlands.

In desert areas, temperatures will range between 28 and 10 degrees, while the plains are expected to record 27 and 13 degrees. The northern Jordan Valley will see 33 and 15 degrees, compared to 32 and 15 degrees in the southern Jordan Valley.

Around the Dead Sea, temperatures will reach 33 and 17 degrees, and 34 and 18 degrees in Aqaba.
