Amman, Nov 10 (Petra) – Interior Minister Mazen Faraya directed administrative governors to release 571 administrative detainees, effective as of Monday.

The amnesty, which came after a review of the nature of their cases and deciding that prison terms spent were enough, is to give them the opportunity to reintegrate into society and lead normal lives with families, according to a statement.

The decision underlines the ministry's humanitarian approach to administrative detention, while simultaneously adhering to legal and security measures designed to curb the criminal activity of dangerous individuals, it added.
