King stresses importance of working with US on comprehensive Gaza plan to end war, suffering

New York, Sept. 23 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a multilateral meeting convened by the United States and Qatar in New York on Tuesday, affirmed the readiness of all participating countries to work with the US on a comprehensive plan for Gaza that brings an end to the war and suffering.

At the meeting, held to discuss ways to end the war on Gaza, His Majesty stressed that reaching a ceasefire and ensuring unhindered aid flow are of the utmost priority.

The King called for restoring stability in the West Bank, adding, "While we work to resolve the conflict in Gaza, we do not want to see another conflict erupt in the West Bank." His Majesty added that attempts to annex the West Bank or alter the historical status quo of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem would undermine all efforts to achieve peace and stability.

The King also stressed the important role of the United States and President Trump in ending the war on Gaza and achieving just peace.

The meeting was attended by US President Donald Trump, Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Egypt Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi attended the meeting.
