Riyadh, December 14 (Petra) – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa headed the Jordanian delegation participating in the 11th session of the UN Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) Forum, which opened Sunday in Riyadh under the theme "Two Decades of Global Dialogue: Achievements, Challenges and the Way Forward." In her address, Namrouqa said the world is facing escalating moral, humanitarian, environmental and geopolitical crises, noting that the challenges are particularly evident in the region.
She urged collective action to ensure accountability, establish justice, uphold human dignity and put an end to the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.
Namrouqa affirmed that Jordan believes the moral compass of nations is measured by their ability to coexist.
She highlighted the Kingdom's longstanding commitment to interfaith dialogue, beginning with the Amman Message in 2004, which reaffirmed Islam's values of moderation, peace and unity, followed by the "A Common Word" initiative in 2007, which strengthened dialogue between Islamic and Christian thought.
She noted that the efforts culminated in the World Interfaith Harmony Week, a Jordanian initiative unanimously adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The forum was attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres; the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations, Miguel Moratinos; ministers; political and religious leaders; heads of international organisations; and representatives of civil society.
The forum aims to review two decades of achievements in global dialogue, address current challenges and explore future pathways for joint action to promote mutual understanding, strengthen intercultural communication and support international peace and stability.
