Amman, November 22 (Petra) – Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), Ayman Alawneh,, met with Ovidiu Costea, the Ministerial Advisor for Trade and Economic Affairs at the Romanian Embassy in Jordan, to discuss prospects for Jordanian-Romanian economic cooperation and the role of private sector institutions in this regard.

According to a JBA statement issued on Saturday, Alawneh called for increasing the volume of mutual trade exchange, stressing the need to develop mechanisms for joint cooperation and enhance communication channels between representatives of the two countries' private sector.

Alawneh also noted importance of organizing joint business forums and specialized trade exhibitions to showcase products and investment opportunities in economic sectors, mainly food industries, pharmaceuticals, and engineering industries, as well as "promising" sectors such as agricultural technology, logistics, and renewable energy.

Jordanian market constitutes a "strategic" gateway to accessing regional markets, he noted, affirming the association's "readiness" to provide the necessary information and support to Romanian companies wishing to invest or establish partnerships with their Jordanian counterparts, he pointed out.

On future steps, Alawneh called for facilitating the exchange of economic delegations and activating existing agreements to help remove any obstacles that might face the two sides' businesspeople.

For his part, Costea affirmed his country's interest in expanding the presence of Romanian companies in the Jordanian market and enhancing the volume of mutual trade, emphasizing the embassy's "readiness" to provide all forms of support to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Kingdom's main imports from the Romanian market are grains, live animals, cocoa, cereal preparations, flour, and starch.
