Cairo, Nov. 21 (Petra)-- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi welcomed the UN General Assembly’s adoption of several significant resolutions in support of the Palestinian cause, passed with an overwhelming majority.

Foremost among these resolutions was the reaffirmation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to the renewal of the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to ensure the continued delivery of essential humanitarian services to millions of refugees across its areas of operation.

In a statement issued by the Arab Parliament, Al-Yamahi said the broad international backing reflects the global community’s commitment to international legitimacy and its rejection of the illegal measures imposed by the Israeli occupation, including annexation, settlement expansion, forced displacement, and ethnic cleansing.

He expressed gratitude to the countries that voted in favor of the resolutions and supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Al-Yamahi stressed that the adoption of these resolutions represents a crucial step toward strengthening international efforts to end the assault on Gaza and protect civilians.

He added that the move paves the way for more effective global action aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s ongoing parliamentary and diplomatic efforts both regional and international to rally further support for the Palestinian cause and defend the rights of the Palestinian people in all global forums until they attain their freedom and establish their fully sovereign, independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
