Amman, Nov. 19 (Petra) Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), renewed Wednesday his call for Iran to permit inspections of sites attacked by Israel and the United States in June.
Opening the IAEA Board of Governors’ quarterly meeting in Vienna, Grossi said, "We have begun a number of inspections, but not at the sites that were attacked, and I hope we will be able to do so." He emphasized that allowing access is part of Iran’s obligations as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Grossi noted that "it is inappropriate to say there is no need for any inspection due to the total destruction of the targeted sites," referring to Iran’s refusal to cooperate with the IAEA regarding the sites hit during the twelve-day conflict.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, via Telegram, stated that Iran will "only cooperate on nuclear facilities that were not targeted, according to IAEA rules." //Petra// AF
