Amman, Sept 15 (Petra) – The Senate's Committee on Arab, International and Expatriate Affairs met Monday under Senator Hani Mulki to discuss developments in the region, challenges posed to Arab and Islamic countries, and escalating political, security and military tensions.

Mulki spoke about Jordan's positions underlined by His Majesty King Abdullah II in international forums. His Majesty has placed the Palestinian cause top of Jordanian foreign policy and spearheaded efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

He said Jordan had condemned "the treacherous" attack on Qatar, a position that is not in isolation from the Kingdom's broader stance on regional issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and the situation in the Arab and Islamic region.

Jordan's position, Mulki pointed out, has not been selective in dealing with regional crises, most notably the ongoing attacks on Gaza, but is based on the solid principles of respect of international law, rejection of aggression, and support of right and justice anywhere.

The senators said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi's recent address at the UN Security Council is a clear expression of Jordan's solid and wise approach.

They noted that Safadi, in diplomatic language, voiced Jordan's absolute rejection of the Israeli attack on Qatar, and his speech was a constant call for calm and political solutions, far from polarization and escalation.

The committee hailed Jordan's official position, stressing that the Kingdom, in its foreign policy, continues to play a pivotal and balanced role in the midst of regional crises, noting a balanced and clear vision.
