Amman, Sept 15 (Petra) – Jordanian political figures and academics on Monday said that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha sent a clear message to Arab and Islamic states to adopt a unified and effective stance against Israeli policies, safeguard Palestinian rights and holy sites, and translate political positions into concrete actions on the ground.

They told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that there is a need to review and activate mechanisms for joint Arab action to achieve tangible impact and enhance regional security and stability.

Ahmad Al-Shunnaq, Secretary-General of the National Constitutional Party, said the King focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, stressing the need for immediate measures to halt attacks involving killing, starvation, and displacement of Palestinians, and to prevent any escalation that threatens regional stability.

He added that the King highlighted the necessity of a unified and decisive Arab response to protect holy sites and prevent actions threatening the security of Syria and Lebanon, reaffirming Jordan’s commitment to defending Arab and Islamic interests and enhancing coordination among states to ensure effective implementation of decisions.

Retired Major General Adnan Al-Raqqad, Director-General of the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans (ESARSV), said the King’s speech underscored the need to strengthen Arab solidarity. He noted that Israeli measures in the West Bank exceed international legality and expand the occupation, reducing prospects for a comprehensive and just peace. He added that the King emphasized that Qatar’s security is part of Arab national security and that any threat to an Arab state directly affects regional stability, calling for joint efforts to protect the nation’s interests and secure the future for coming generations.

Strategy analyst Laith Al-Qhaiwi said the King stressed that Israel’s continued aggression is fueled by international inaction, which has encouraged its attacks in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, and most recently its threats to the sovereignty of Qatar.

He added that the King’s address included a clear call to move from statements to practical implementation, focusing on achieving tangible results that demonstrate the ability of Arab states to safeguard their peoples and holy sites.

Al-Qhaiwi further highlighted that the speech underscored the importance of Arab and Islamic unity to confront escalating threats, urging the establishment of joint mechanisms to coordinate efforts, protect regional security, and ensure long-term stability. He concluded that the address reflected the shared interests of Arab and Islamic peoples and called for concerted efforts to activate joint Arab action, align policies among institutions, experts, and decision-makers, and uphold the dignity and rights of the Arab nation.
