Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra) – Parliamentary committees and blocs underscored the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s speeches delivered yesterday at the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, as well as during the opening session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, highlighting their embodiment of Jordan’s steadfast position in defending Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue.

The National Guidance and Media Committee stated in a release that the King voiced a strong rejection of the mass killings and blatant violations inflicted upon the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, warning against war crimes targeting women, children, and civilians, and condemning the double standards that undermine the credibility of the international system.

The committee commended Jordan’s diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty the King, which have gained international traction, with Arab states and other friendly nations supporting Jordan’s stance and calling for recognition of the State of Palestine. This, the committee said, represents a victory for justice and a clear message that regional stability cannot be achieved without a just resolution to the Palestinian issue.

It emphasized that Jordanian diplomacy, under His Majesty’s leadership, has proven to be a voice of wisdom and balance, capable of uniting Arab, Islamic, and international positions in support of Palestine and its legitimate rights, and reminding the world that international law applies to all without exception.

The committee highlighted that the King’s speech was not mere rhetoric but a historic stance cementing Jordan’s leading role, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities, and promoting a future of peace grounded in justice, free from extremism and violence, and opposing Israel’s far-right government policies of settlement expansion and expropriation.

Separately, the Irada and Islamic National blocs lauded His Majesty the King’s speeches, noting that they reflect Jordan’s unwavering principles in defending Palestine and expose Israeli aggression against people, land, and holy sites. They described the speeches as a clear call for the international community to act, end double standards, halt the ongoing Israeli aggression, protect civilians, and ensure the implementation of international legitimacy.

The Azm Bloc also praised the King’s historic address at the UN General Assembly, which reaffirmed Jordan’s firm position on the Palestinian issue and the sanctity of Jerusalem, reiterating Jordan’s commitment to the Palestinians’ legitimate rights and the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites. The bloc noted that the King’s speech highlighted that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not merely a regional dispute but one of the world’s oldest ongoing conflicts, posing a continuous humanitarian and legal challenge.

His Majesty the King stressed that Jerusalem is a red line, warning that any violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque or other religious sites could ignite a broader religious conflict, signaling to the world the serious regional and international repercussions of infringing on Jerusalem’s historic and legal status.

The parliamentary committees concluded by affirming their full support for the Hashemite leadership and urging the international community to heed the King’s call and translate UN resolutions into concrete actions to protect Palestinian rights and ensure lasting regional peace.
