Lower House Pledges Full Support for King’s Efforts on Palestinian Issue

Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi affirmed that the full parliament stands behind the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II in defending the causes of the Arab nation, foremost among them the Palestinian issue.
Al-Qadi’s remarks came during his chairing of part of a meeting held by the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, where the latest developments and updates on regional and international arenas were discussed.
Al-Qadi praised the efforts of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Haitham Ziadin, and its members for holding high-level meetings that reflect the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and its role in conveying Jordan’s message and defending its positions in various forums.
He stressed that the Palestinian issue remains a top priority of Jordanian foreign policy, noting that His Majesty the King is leading continuous international action to end the occupation, achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, and reject all attempts at displacement, emphasizing that a two-state solution is the only path to a just and lasting peace.
Al-Qadi affirmed Jordan’s firm stance against any attempts to displace the Palestinian brothers from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, reiterating Jordan’s historical commitment to the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which is considered a historical and legal responsibility that is non-negotiable.
For his part, MP Ziadin said the committee affirms its steadfast support for His Majesty King Abdullah II, expressing pride in the King’s established political and international positions, which serve the country and enhance its comprehensive progress.
He added, "Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, moves forward with confidence and determination toward further achievements, relying on a clear vision and firm positions on various Arab, regional, and international issues, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, reflecting Jordan’s leading role and its commitment to supporting security, stability, and peace in the region." Committee members also stressed the importance and effectiveness of Jordan’s role in supporting the Palestinian brothers to achieve their legitimate rights on their national land.
The Foreign Minister reviewed the efforts of Jordanian diplomacy, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in serving Jordan’s national interests and addressing Arab issues and regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue.
Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s firm stance in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to end the occupation, achieve freedom, and establish an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on a two-state solution.
He reiterated the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and fully implementing its terms, stressing Israel’s obligations under the agreement and international law, and calling for the immediate, sufficient, and sustainable entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which continues to suffer an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, in addition to reconstruction efforts, preventing displacement, and launching a genuine path to a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Safadi noted that Jordan continues to make every possible effort in coordination with brothers and partners to halt the dangerous escalation and unilateral Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, affirming Jordan’s continued role in protecting and caring for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, based on the historic Hashemite custodianship.
Regarding developments in Syria, Safadi reiterated the continuous directives of His Majesty the King on the necessity of supporting sister Syria in the reconstruction process on foundations that ensure its unity, sovereignty, stability, security, and the safety of its territory and citizens.
Safadi emphasized that Jordan addresses regional and international issues with a clear policy grounded in principles, objectives, and flexibility in tools, in service of Jordan’s interests, security, stability, and Arab causes.
He reaffirmed that Jordanian diplomacy works to serve Jordan’s political, economic, investment, and commercial interests, among other areas, to contribute to the development process, in addition to providing the best services to Jordanians abroad, which remains a priority for the ministry.
