Army Chief attends graduation of counterterrorism course

Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra)- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Wednesday sponsored the graduation of the Counterterrorism Course/1 at the Special Forces and Counterterrorism Training Pavilion of the Prince Hashim bin Al-Hussein School for Special Operations Training.

In the presence of a number of senior Armed Forces officers, Huneiti listened to a briefing delivered by the wing commander on the course and the skills acquired by participants over 24 weeks.

The training included advanced physical fitness, various live-fire exercises, assault operations, first aid and communications, in addition to mountain insertion and helicopter insertion, with the participation of female personnel, aimed at enhancing operational readiness in planning and executing counterterrorism missions and dealing with various threats.

The army chief also observed an exercise demonstrating a high level of professionalism in handling explosives and conducting urban combat using the latest equipment and technologies.

Huneiti praised the efforts of course personnel and the distinguished level demonstrated by the graduates, stressing the importance of such courses in honing the skills of Special Operations personnel and raising their efficiency in line with the latest global methods in counterterrorism.

He affirmed that the Jordan Armed Forces will remain the nation’s steadfast shield and that the process of development and modernization will continue to ensure enhanced combat capabilities and the highest levels of readiness.
